Governance

The Certified Open programme is administered by Certified Open Ltd, a not-for-profit, limited by guarantee company. As there is no equity, no profits can be distributed. This is the first step towards establishing a formal foundation. The Board of Certified Open Ltd has representatives from OFE and Free Software Foundation Europe as equal partners.

There is also a Certified Open Governing Council with representation from ICT stakeholders. Current members are listed on the Certified Open Governing Council. The Governing Council facilitates discussions on strategy and the appeals process.

The Certified Open® programme is governed by strict policies. These include a clear Code of Conduct  and a defined Appeals Process .

All software and content within Certified Open will be made freely available under either the GNU GPL, Creative Commons or equivalent Copyleft licence. Use of the Certified Open brand and logo is been protected by a registered Trade Mark held by Certified Open Ltd.
